Dyes are suitable for: cellulose fibers: cotton, linen, canvas, hemp, jute, ramie, sisal, paper, rayon and others
Instructions for cold dyeing:
Remember to pre-wash the fabric to remove any dirt, grease or residue. We recommend using Synthrapol®.
Prepare the necessary amount of textile. For dyeing, you absolutely need crystalline soda, without it the colors will not react (I do not recommend any other fabric softeners, etc.) Prepare a bath according to the amount of textile, the ratio is 100g of soda to 1 liter of water, the water can be warm so that the soda dissolves well. Then place the textile in the bath. Leave it immersed for about 20 min., it is necessary for the solution to reach all the fibers.
In the meantime, prepare the paint, (don't forget rubber gloves!!!) the ideal ratio for fully saturated colors is the whole bottle - i.e. 19 g for 400-500 ml of water (but only prepare the solution that you will use, i.e. proportionally smaller or even larger , the finished solution lasts for a short time - up to a month in the refrigerator, while the unused powder lasts a long time) If you want more tones of one shade, just add more water, i.e. the textile will be colored, but the shade will be lighter. You can experiment :)
The solution water can be a little warm to dissolve the paint well - not hot! Mix the paint with a little water, for example in a PET bottle or other bottle, shake well and then add the rest of the water, let it dissolve for about 30 minutes.
Remove after 20 min before the colors dissolve well. textiles from the bath, wring out the water thoroughly, DO NOT WASH! leave the solution in the fabric. Stretch foil is ideal for dyeing (preferably 2 layers), on which you will dye, again wear gloves, it dyes a lot, it will be difficult to get it off your hands :) Color as you like, there are no limits to your imagination, you can apply with a bottle or a spoon , do not add too much liquid, the fibers are already soaked with the solution. After dyeing, wrap the textile in plastic wrap and leave it for 12-24 hours at room temperature. One important tip, if you have one side lighter or no color or you don't want the colors to mix too much, I recommend keeping it on a slightly slanted surface so the color doesn't bleed into places you don't want it to.
After 12-24 hours, unwrap the stretcher (again, we have gloves) and rinse the fabric first with cold water and then with increasingly warm water, so that the excess colors are washed out, it is also a good idea to rinse the fabric several times in a water bath until the water is almost clear, we recommend using Synthrapol ®. The fabric should be in this soapy bath for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse another 3 to 4 times with warm water.
Other coloring methods can be found in the original instructions in English - related files
We wish you much success and creative ideas :)
The paint is not toxic. Try to avoid inhaling dust from the paint. Avoid contact with eyes. May cause eye or skin irritation. Children may only use paint under adult supervision and preferably after mixing with water.
SOME BOTTLES STILL HAVE A PAPER OVERLAY UNDER THE CAP FROM THE FACTORY, THOSE WITH NEWER CAPS DO NOT HAVE AN OVERLAY!!! ALL COLOURS ARE ORIGINAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
Procion MX dyes are “cold water dyes” that are fixed chemically instead of with heat. This unique property sets Procion MX apart from all other dyes and establishes them as the undisputed king of backyard dyeing, batik and tie dye. Because Procion MX dyes can be used away from the stovetop, they are also the ideal colors for shibori, ice dyeing, tub and low water immersion dyeing, printing, direct painting and other “alternative” dye applications. As a fiber-reactive dye, Procion MX forms a strong covalent bond with cellulosic fibers, making it the most permanent and washfast of all dyestuffs. Mix the concentrated dye powder with tap water to create the most vibrant colors possible for cotton, linen and other plant-based fabrics (may also be used with protein fibers if acidified). Procion MX dyes are typically used with a soda ash fixative, which can be added directly to the dye bath or used to pretreat the fabric as in tie dyeing and other “batch setting” techniques. Typically, one 19 g bottle will dye 0,5 kg of dry fabric (very bright colors will require more dye and pastel colors will require less).
