This wonderfully soft, strong and lustrous yarn comes from an ancient breed of New Zealand Polwarth sheep whose wool is 75% merino and 25% Lincoln wool. The fibre is similar to merino, but it is more flexible and shinier. The yarn is excellent for dyeing.
Composition: 100% New Zealand Polwarth wool (75% merino and 25% Lincoln), the yarn has a superwash treatment, so it can be washed in the washing machine on a gentle programme up to 40°C with wool detergent.
The yarn should always be soaked before dyeing, ideally in water with vinegar or citric acid if it is to be dyed with acid-based dyes or at least with a mild detergent designed for woollen fabrics.
Weight/weights: 100 g = approx. 400 metres
Recommended needle thickness: 2.5 - 4 mm
Sample size: 10 x 10 cm = 28 stitches x 36 rows on 3.25 mm needles (US 3)
